Dave Stevens "Sketch"- from the Frazetta Tribute Book

A few years back when I was working on Frazetta: Painting with Fire I put together a sketchbook for the project to pass around to his fellow artists who he'd influenced. When we finally got the book back this piece by DAVE STEVENS kicked everyone's butt.

In an effort to better understand his work I decided to blow it up and ink it. Now I know what level of subtlety this guy works on. Not saying I helped it any but I will say this. When you're as good as he was, anything you add takes away from what he's done...period.

He was easily the coolest guy I'd ever met and got to know in comics, hands down.
