Description

This caught my eye right away when I was leafing thru Michael's portfolio. I've only really seen him do comic and sci-fi heroes with markers in a Kirby-esque style. This, though, was drawn in a realistic manner with gouache and ink. He explained that he'd been commissioned by Maisonneuve Magazine to draw the protagonist of Milton's "Paradise Lost" for an article on literary bad boys. After seeing his first take on the character (it looks a bit like Jim Morrison), they asked him to submit another version - and then went with the first! So that's how this piece ended up back in Michael's portfolio and is now in mine. (Fan Expo Canada, 08/2010)
