Description

John Totleben - Original Art for Swamp Thing #60, page 1 (DC, 1987). Here we have John Totleben's psychedelic splash page from the famous issue of Swamp Thing in which the elemental creature wanders the far reaches of outer space. The art is a collage of xeroxed images enhanced with black and white ink, and is signed by Totleben.

The art for the whole of issue #60 (22 full-page splash/collages) was sold by Kevin Eastman through Sotheby's in 1999 for $1,500 - substantially below the predicted $2,000 - $4,000, but fair to my mind. The later owner must have broken up the book however - I acquired this splash from Heritage Auctions at their 2003 San Diego sale for a mere $30.
