Legion of Superheroes Homage to Superman Issue 265

The original Superman cover had a great image for a re-Legion commission.. I knew I wanted it to feature Colossal Boy and one of my favorite renditions of that character (and Bouncing Boy ) was by the classic Legion of Super Heroes artist Michael Netzer/Nasser. It took a while but was so very worth it. I was so excited about this piece that I broke one of my own self-imposed rules and posted the original pencils long before it was near completion. Joe Rubenstein is on inks and did a good job but it just didnt pop. So I turned once again to Trevor Von Eeden and Chris Ivy who have done other commissions and invited them to add their ideas and talents to the creative process with logo's etc. As you can see from the number of attached images, this commission really evolved and took on a life of its owm, the logo we started with was eventually replaced, wash tones and deeper shadows were added and each additional piece of work took it to a highter level. Supergirl, Ultra Boy,Night Girl and Mon-el carry our fallen hero home as Superboy pays his final respects.
