This is the original painting published as the cover to the vintage gothic romance paperback novel the Victorian Crown by Edwina Noone in 1970. The art appears to be one of Ron Lesser's jobs in the McGinnis style, however he denied having ever seen it and told me he thinks it is a McGinnis. On the other hand, when I first showed him the painting for Lead in His Fists which is likely his first commercial job ever, he also was adamant that he'd never seen it before and that he felt it was probably done by Mel Crair. It was only when I told him his name and address were written on back of the board that he admitted it must be his since the address was indeed the one he lived at when the painting was done. So with that in mind, and with my own personal knowledge of both Lesser and McGinnis' styles, I'm quite ceertain this is another one of Lesser's paintings that he again just didn't remember doing.
