This painting was previously published as the cover to the vintage gothic romance novel The Third Spectre by Dan Ross in 1971. The painting was later reused as the cover to the vintage gothic romance novel Moorsend Manor by Florence Hurd in 1973. Unfortunately the publisher stupidly had someone black out the creepy woman in the veil in a ridiculous attempt to make the cover seem "new".
