DescriptionAs a Golden Age comic collector, I had the idea of having Budd Root, a modern artist whom I feel is an amazing artist, recreate the cover to Action Comics #1. This is the 1st commission I have ever asked any artist to do. I asked Budd to keep the composition the same as Action #1, but replace Superman with Cavewoman (Meriem). Instead of a cape like superman has, have her hair flowing backwards. I felt a nude Meriem was best for this piece. I asked for the green car to be smashing a T-Rex on the head instead of on the rocks like Action #1. Finally, I asked for velociraptors to be scattering on the cover instead of humans. Well, I think Budd outdid himself and delivered an amazing piece. I asked for this piece in 2008 and it was delivered in 2011, a 3 year wait. I am so glad Kevin & Budd came through with this piece for me. All the detail work budd put into this piece really shows due to its 19"X24" size. Thanks again Budd!UPDATE: Published twice: as a pin-up poster years after it was made & now in 2019, it's published as the cover to Cavewoman: Riptide #1 Variant cover E. Here's the link. https://comicbookrealm.com/series/57409/467602/basement-amryl-entertainment-cavewoman-riptide-one-shot-issue-1e So in total, this project took 11 years. Conceptually thought up by me in 2008, artistically finished by Budd Root in 2011 & published as a cover in 2019. Wow! What an adventure! Social/Sharing |

For a first commission, you did "okay," I guess. Yes, I'm kidding! This is easily the most amazing thing I've seen on CAF in many a day. *Whew!* Budd keeps getting better and better.

Such a stunning piece. Breathtaking work by Budd. I remember seeing this posted somewhere else last year. It's inspired me to ask Kevin to get on Budd's waiting list. Have my own plans for a cover swipe that has special meaning to me. But this, good grief. You are a lucky lucky man to own this masterpiece.

This is a nice piece of Meriem. The detail, the background, the way you drew Meriem in motion is all nice! Nice work Budd!
