Description

Jim Ivey was a political cartoonist for such publications as the Washington Star, The St. Petersburg Times, The San Francisco Examiner, and the Orlando Sentinel. His career spanned the years from 1949 to 1989. Besides his cartooning career Jim also operated the Cartoon Museum, the first museum of cartoon art in the U.S.
Jim was also regional chairman of the Nat'l Cartoonists Society and he published cARToon, a magazine covering the history of cartooning. Many thanks for Tim Finney pointing that out :)

For the record, the cartoon refers to an incident during the 1972 U.S. presidential campaign when Muskie reportedly cried after defending his wife from a published story that accused her of being a heavy drinker and such. I believe Muskie said it was melted snowflakes (or maybe his nose was sweating, I forget). For the record, the story was probably planted by Nixon's "dirty tricks" squad who feared Muskie as a stronger candidate than George McGovern.
