Description

This is a beautiful Tarzan pencil prelim for a paperback cover by Frazetta. Thanks to Robert insightful information, I have now been informed that this piece appeared on the Ace Books edition of Edgar Rice Burroughs' THE LAND OF HIDDEN MEN (1973) it had nothing to do with that title where that scene did not appear. Frank's pencil preliminary was actually inspired by a scene from Burroughs' TARZAN THE UNTAMED and depicted Tarzan being stalked by Sheeta the leopard (which Frank informed me). Frank didn't have time to read THE LAND OF HIDDEN MEN and decided to paint that scene because Ace was willing to accept just about anything that he presented to them if it seemed to match the books contents
