Description

�� Patrick McDonnell was a guest at San Diego Comic-Con in 2011 and received the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award at the Eisner Awards ceremony. I missed seeing Patrick at his last two Northern California appearances and was looking forward to seeing him at the con. The only book I brought with me was his new children's book Me,...Jane about Jane Goodall. Like me, she was a Tarzan fan. While browsing the Event Guide, I see Patrick's publisher will be giving away the book at his only signing on Friday. As events unfolded, I escorted my 11-year-old niece and her friend to see Nickelodeon's Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness panel. My friend John took my copy of the book and went to see Patrick. I have a number of Earl and Mooch drawings so It was great to get this giraffe. Following the con, I'm reading con news and see Patrick and his brother Robert are writing a script for a Mutts animated feature film for 20th Century Fox. In the Art of Up, one can see some of his artwork for the Pixar feature directed by his friend Pete Docter. Patrick is a great guy and I wish him further success.
