Description
This is the promos piece for the aborted JMS Brave and Bold series that was supposed to introduce the MLJ/Mighty/Archie/Red Circle heroes to the DC Universe for the second time in the Brave and the Bold book.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, the idea was to have Batman meet the various characters and team up with them a la the Brave and the Bold books from the 70s. Readers would be familiar with them because of the Batman introduction and in theory this would be a springboard for future series.

As usual JMS bailed on the initial concept ( Rising Stars, the Twelve, Wonder Woman, Superman, Spider-man anyone?) and instead created a bible for re-imagined characters that had no remembrance to the original characters other than names.

Too bad, based on this image it might have been fun, with stunning Saiz art. you can see some of Jesus Saiz's Brave and the Bold Shield pages over in my Shield gallery to see what might have been.

I like the MLJ characters but why are they attacking Batman?

Ah, what could have been! At least this piece found a good home with a true fan of the characters. Congratulations!

Gorgeous artwork, and very intriguing in that the Black Hood never wore that costume during his brief tenure in the DCU, and the Fly never made it there at all. Ah, what could have been.

Great piece! Yeah, I was SUPER excited when I saw this bit of promo art -- then HUGELY disappointed with what DC ended up publishing! Great pick-up, Michael!
