DescriptionNormally to find inspiration for a Re-Legion project, I go digging through the back issue bins but this one came in a recent purchase of weekly comics.I had followed Blackest Night and Brightest Day with intrest and when I saw this dramatic Aquaman cover with him losing his hand ( again ) . I knew where I would take it. Back in the Adventure Comics era , Lightning Lad loses an arm to a monster called "The Moby Dick of Space " ( simpler days indeed ). Later in a 40th Anniversary Issue it was revealed the Luck Lords had manipulated events to cause the injury. George Perez had lately redesigned them in a Brave & Bold storyline and so we went with his image of them, holding the Book of Destiny. Peter Temple did a great job capturing the Silver Age feel while at the same time capturing a very shocking modren image. The lightning storm behind the characters by Peter and the grey wash effect by Chris blend together beautifully, giving a very moody image. Chris Ivy worked on the cover logo/inks..the unlucky hands logo ( a slightly macrabe play on words ) adds to the overall effect. Peter Temple is really great to work with. I recommend him to anyone on CAF for their commission. He got what I was trying to do and ran with it and Chris Ivy just throws himself into each Re-Legion project with gusto. Social/Sharing |

I really enjoy your picking "other" covers for these Legion stories. Keep it up. Peter did an excellent job of capturing this the way it would be on the cover today.

Artistically speaking, one of my favorites of all your pieces as Temple and Ivy did a tremendous job meshing together....Chris' inking decisions are A+.

Thats what makes the end results so very cool.
