Description

Wonderful full color re-creation of the classic cover to Adventure Comics #42 (DC, 1939), by Golden-Age legend Creig Flessel.

Adventure Comics #42 is perhaps my all-time favorite Sandman cover of Flessel's, depicting a darkly alluring and very pulpish scene as the mysterious Sandman takes on a couple of thugs in the sewers of New York. This is very early and fully vintage Golden-Age artwork at its very finest. This cover represents the general somber mood of these very early Golden-Age covers and stories - dark and grim and that fascinating atmospheric "mysterioso" feel. Just really COOL!
