DescriptionI pretty certain the reaction from some of you to this Re-Legion post is HUH ?? or What the Frack is he smoking ?? !!Okay, I have to admit this one is slightly out there in left field. In my introduction to this Gallery and the Re-Legion project. I wrote the following. ..... "Believing that any DC/Marvel cover that I read over the years, could with a little bit of work/creativity and fun become a Legion cover.." Now,as I have posted more and more pieces. I have had fellow CAF members jump in with some great ideas for cover ideas. No cheques were sent to cover the costs but nonetheless, there were some really cool ideas. But little did I know someone on CAF, would take the above statement and the word "ANY" literally. After a fun night in Baltimore ( Yes, alcohol was involved ) I got a challenge to turn Avengers 60 into a Legion cover . This cover was not going to be easy one to Re-Legion . But with a little digging around Legion mythos and some creativity from Gary we did it. So here goes... The post Zero Hour Legion spent time trapped in the 21st century. In that time Saturn Girl mentally manipulated Cosmic Boy into believing that he loved her and they planned a wedding. The image below of Gates in a tuxedo is just great. It very easy to judge Imra harshly but let's be honest, we all deal with stress and time travel seperation anxiety differently. Just in the nick of time before they offically tied the knot, Saturn Girl regained her senses and Cosmic Boy his much prized dignity. And while I am aware that the continiuty cops aka the Legion purists could point out that Sensor / Projectra ( who in this incarnation was indeed a snake-like creature ) was not trapped in the past with them, let me give you two options. (A) Artistic Licence which Buscema himself used on his Avengers cover or (B) That Chameleon Boy rushes forward and transforms himself into a duplicate of Sensor to shock Saturn Girl back to her senses. This cover was meant to be fun and it was. Gary Martin did a great job with a VERY difficult subject and in a short space and time. He captured the artistic style of that particular version of the Legion. But if you want to see a more normal commission follow this link.. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=751625&GSub=98517 to see a great Ultra Boy piece. And for the record. While I love comments and I am really am open to suggestions of future Re-Legions from my fellow gallery members , there will be no more "I dare you " commissions going to be happening around here. Just because I could Re-Legion a particular cover, doesn't always mean that I should ...... But you cannot say that Comics Are No Longer Fun..??? Enjoy Social/Sharing |

I just LOVE using old covers as a template and plugging different characters in there. I still own that issue of AVENGERS. Excellant commission!
