DescriptionHere is something a bit different for my collection. My wife and kids decided to surprise me a few years back by commissioning Joe Rubinstein to blue-line ink up a few of my pieces and to "transform" them into One Minute Laters. My turn came up with Joe recently and he has hit a home run with the piece.John drew a pencil piece of Cap v. Red Skull. A scan was made of the pencils which Joe then prints in blue (hence the term blue-line) which he then inked and added backgrounds. The pencils were of Cap v. Red Skull by John and with the help of Joe inking over the blue line scan, my family transformed the pencil piece into an OML for Tales of Suspense #80. As for how/why the Skull changed clothes, my kids had an answer for that and you can find it in the color version's description.. Social/Sharing |

Joe inking a Byrne Cap drawing (albeit a blue line) sure takes me back. I've always loved that classic combo of talents!

This simply convinces me that I need to have Joe ink my unfinished Byrne JSA-Invaders piece. Joe is an incredible inker and brings out the best in Byrne, who sometimes reminds me of Gil Kane, he is better when inked by someone else.

The inking is super..the cosmic cube changed the Red Skull clothes to formal dress black because it was Cap's Funeral !.Seriously Joe did an AMAZING job.

Awesome idea -- and a fantastic ink job -- you have a great family, my friend.
