Retrowood by Mike Vosburg is a collection of hard boiled detective stories featuring J. Parker Wrighte set in the a 1930-ish period. It's surprisingly good and came with a bonus - deleted scenes, replacement panels, etc. created while producing the book.
In my case, I have an alternative view of the hero being decked in high school by his best friend - long story, but worth reading.

The Additional Images compare the published page to the original art that Mike rejected. In my case, he discarded the first three panels of the page. Using the comparison, you can see how his thinking changed for those panels.
