When Captain America Throws HIs Mighty Shield...by Eric W. Meador

To my son, Owen, the Captain America movie trailer was like a mini-movie, featuring the transformation of Steve Rogers into Captain America, his training, and his ultimate showdown against the Red Skull [At 3, he's still too young to see the actual movie.]. As abbreviated as it was, Owen thought the trailer was a self-contained story, and he had me watch it over and over with him the in the evenings when I got home from work for about a week straight (which was no hardship for me, natch!). Anyway, Owen was naturally imbued with some Super Soldier Serum of his own from watching this mini-movie and deciced that he, too, would become Captain America and throw things around the house under the guise that they were his "shield." When I recounted these stories to my good buddy (and super-artist), Eric Meador, he felt like he had just the right ammunition and inspiration for his next Owen and Isla (pronounced "eye-la," my 1-year-old daughter)-themed piece of art, which I present to you here. Eric used a picture of Owen giving Isla a piggy-back ride around the house for his reference for this one, and he felt like the way that I had Isla's arms supported made it look like she was rarin' for battle. Look out evildoers!
