The New 52 Flash Part 3

I transferred the 9 x 12 rendering by trace onto an 11 x 14 illustration board. I chose to use copics because of hte fluidity of the medium and how their richness of color will help me guess the color value for the watercolor piece. I also incorporated prismacolor erasable white colored pencil to highlight some of the musculature on the suit, as well as graphic pens to tighten some of the line art. In the end the texture of the suit wound up with a bit of a brushed look; I guess I was influenced by John Wesley Shipp's suit in the 90s live action series. I also distinguished the figure from the board by throwing in a bit of light orange behind Flash that was complimentary to the color scheme of the suit. The lightning bands on the forearms, however, I used the original pattern instead of the revised designs. I also have misgivings about giving both them and the belt a gold quality with black shading. That's more Wonder Woman than Flash in my opinion. I'll maintain the 3D effect but be more subtle with the colors.
