Splash page from Avengers #181 by John Byrne. I received it as a high school graduation present from my parents in 1984. Boy my parents rock! :D

(The picture looks yellow but that is because of the camera I used. It is bright white and beautiful. :) )

Hard to say the value as it is always subjective but it is north of $15K.

Hi Kirk: You are right on the nose. I got it appraised by a local comic shop that deals in lots of comic art. He gave me an appraisal for $15K. ;)

Thanks! I was pretty blown away when I got it. :) Now my folks have grandchildren so they are past the adoption phase. ;)

This may be the most unforgettable page of the whole Byrne's Avengers run. And what a classic run !!! This splash is simply incredible ! Congrats for this Grail ! Graduation's gifts don't come any better.

Great story! Did you give them a hint, or did they pick this one out themselves? I don't know what else was available at the time, but I'm fairly certain they made the right choice

When I was a senior in 1984 it came into a local shop. I am a huge Byrne, Avengers, and Black Panther fan so when I got home I gushed about it to my Mom. I didn't think anything of it then for graduation I opened it and my jaw hit the floor. She also had it archival framed at a local place that does stellar work. Yeah, my folks are pretty awesome. :D

This page is incredible.
I had a total of three comics as a kid and AVENGERS 181 was one of them. I read this issue over and over wondering who all of those strange characters were. Congrats on getting an amazing page!
