DescriptionThis newest Cage Match pits our man Luke against a foe he only faced once during his series: Black Mariah. From LUKE CAGE, HERO FOR HIRE #5, these two clashed as Cage tries to break up a criminal ring led by Mariah. Remember the old comic book cliche where someone would ask "How can someone so big move so fast?" Mariah personified that by at one point running and slamming her 400 lb. frame into Luke, sending him through a wall. Fortunately, Luke eventually got the upper hand in the end though. Red beans and rice didn't miss her -- and unfortunately for him, neither did Cage! Another smashing Cage Match, and another tour de force by Darryl Banks!

Wow!! This gem really brings back fond comic-collecting memories!! My brother & I were HUGE Luke Cage fans back in the day, and I remember this story (issue #5) very well!! Thanks for sharing, my friend, and congratulations on another outstanding commission!!

Another great Damon Owens/Daryl Banks extravaganza. Love the title-hearing the song in my head.
