This is the Ed McGuinness concept and design art for the return of Cable in Avengers X-Sanction (aka Cable Reborn) done on 11 by 17 inch Marvel board. Drawn in 2011 and signed in 2012 when I purchased it.

This piece was originally published in Marvel's 'Exclusive Flipbook' issue during October 2011, which gave a behind the scenes preview into the series and teased readers with a couple of pages from issue #1.

I was excited to see this design was also published in the hard cover book during April 2012. Hasbro also created a Marvel Legends figure based on this design.

I can't express how much better is Ed's design compared to Liefeld's original shoulderpad version. Congratulations!

Thank you, I'm a big fan as well! It's such a treat to see the artist's early thoughts and ideas. McGuinness has a great eye and is great at adding design notes and thoughts to his designs.

I'm of the opinion that the wider the better when it comes to Cable. This is an excellently wide Cable. Very cool!
