Max Overacts Hawaiian Style by Caanan Grall

Caanan is the creator of Max Overacts, a webcomic that I’m amazed is not syndicated in the papers by now. It’s the first true heir to “Calvin & Hobbes” that I’ve seen. The writing is brilliant and the art is terrific, with great storytelling and likable, expressive characters. I asked Caanan if he could do his cast on the beach in Hawai’i and he happily obliged. The piece is done in inks and watercolor, and I think it came out amazing. If you’re a comic strip fan and haven’t read Max Overacts yet, you really need to do so. You won’t regret it.
