DescriptionJim Lee was only at the show for Sunday, so we went straight to his line when we got in the doors and were within the first 30 people or so. Then there were several delays, but after a few hours, he did actually show unlike many of the other artists I went to the show to see, like Tim Sale, Brandon Peterson, and Travis Charest. (although Travis did finally show on Sunday afternoon but wasn't sketching at all) But Jim was great, sketching and signing for everyone ahead of us, and all for free. (I think he was the only artist there sketching completely for free) When it was finally our turn, Ebas had jumped in to have Jim sign HIS copies of Justice League and to geek out on Jim a bit. It was funny to watch, and I had to explain to my son why it was ok for Eric to do that because he was normally stuck at his own table. But Jim did an amazing Wolverine head for my son and took his picture with him, then he did this great Zealot for me. She is probably my favorite character of his creation, so I figured it was a good choice:) So after YEARS of trying to get a sketch from the man himself, in person, I finally managed to get it done and was even able to get one for my son. It was awesome!Social/Sharing |

Great sketch and a great choice. The line was crazy but it was cool that Jim was sketching for the fans.

SWEET!! A Zealot by Jim Lee!! Almost as cool as Zealot by Jason Pearson. ;)- All kidding aside, it doesn't get cooler than meeting Jim Lee. I can only imagine, but you and your son actually did!! AWESOME, man!!

It's really a great drawing when you factor in the time he devoted huh Dave? Glad to hear you had such a great time and experience with Mr. Lee. 8 )

Man, I don't even want to think about how long you and your son had to stand in line for these. But in the end, all that matters is that you got one and it was a fun experience! Me, I hate waiting, so I would've been absolutely miserable! Funny thing is though, I ended up helping to watch the booth for someone who WAS waiting in the Jim Lee line, so I guess technicially I was waiting for Jim too! Excenpt that I didn't get anything for it. LOL

WOW!! That's a great sketch Dave! Thank you very much for sharing this and your story. I always enjoy reading stories of convention experience from fellow collectors. I wish I could attend all the conventions in California!

Great story! I saw him at Baltimore 2007 but didn't gather enough courage to ask for a sketch, maybe next time I see him.
