Description

At the 1996 St Louis Archcon where there was a gathering of many members of "First Fandom" Ray Bradbury drew this in my memory book. I just learned our friend passed away last night. May he Rest In Peace.

First met up with him beginning at the first San Diego Comicon back in 1970 IIRC. Then most every year after that as well as Los Angeles shows. He was always making small purchases with many of the dealers there, back then a few bucks went a long way when comics were still just 20-25 cents cover prices by then.

He never seemed to write a check for more than $5 though, so one day I asked him "why" and he replied, as he was quite famous in our circles, that he had noticed some time ago that if he wrote a check for more than $5 people tended to cash them. Those written below $5 people tended to keep and not cash.

Oh, to be that famous -:)
