Description

Modesty Blaise is the creation of writer Peter O'Donnell. Jim Holdaway, his artist on the Romeo Brown strip, was his choice to draw her. Since Book Palace offered all their Jim Holdaway Modesty Blaise dailies at the same price at the time, I poured through my 1980's Titan and Ken Pierce books looking for the best single one I could buy. This example was on my short list although I bought the #0707 daily at that time. It showed up at Heritage in June 2012 and I was able to buy it for the price I would have paid then.

In this storyline, Modesty and Willie are roughing it on a tropical island when they discover this film crew. I love having the Roman trireme replica which figures prominently in the action. I have a great interest in ships and O'Donnell makes good use of her. Holdaway depicts Modesty in a very athletic pose in the first panel and a casual, attractive manner in the third panel.

Titan is reprinting Modesty Blaise in chronological order. All the Holdaway storylines are available.
