Description
Just last year, both Ernie Chan and Tony DeZuniga were honored at SDCC 2011 and that was to be Tony's last big convention in the States. He and his wife Tina moved back to the Philippines to retire. This past May, both are gone. This SDCC 2012, I happened to go by where their tables would be if they were here and to my surprise I run into both Tina (Tony's wife) and Ernie's daughter. I miss them both terribly and the world of comics is missing two great comic greats.

Obsidian too was also lost with the New 52 but his father in backward fashion will carry on his legacy with new adventures. Obsidian was always a tormented character and it's a bit nice and a sign of the times that we have his father, young and new, adjusted to his sexuality and confident in himself as a person.

Tina showed me many pages from Tony at this SDCC and although simple and non-superheroic, this page reminded me so much of Tony and his style. The page focuses on Obsidian and his shadow form and come from his origin issue in Infinity, Inc #33 from the mid-80s

This piece is so large, I could not scan it, so I apologize for the image, it was taken with my iphone.

Todd McFarlane respected Tony and would allow hardly anyone to ink his work.

Tina says he is in heaven drawing to his heart's desire.

RIP Tony you will be missed.
