DescriptionSpectacular Spider-Man vol. 1 # 200 Page 29. May, 1993Appearing in "Best of Enemies" Editor-In-Chief...................... Tom DeFalco Cover Artist........................... Sal Buscema Writers.................................. J.M. DeMatteis Pencillers.............................. Sal Buscema Inker..................................... Sal Buscema Colourists............................. Bob Sharen Letterers............................... Joe Rosen Editors.................................. Rob Tokar ............................................. Danny Fingeroth The story between the stories (dramatic, intense and agonizing), the protagonist against his greatest enemy, the two poles that they end up still wanting to be avoided. Remember Batman: The Killing Joke, except for one crucial difference: After this story and nothing would be the same. It would be one or the other, something definitive, but never both. This is a fabric woven over low heat for J.M. DeMatties that ends with Harry Osborn insane and become a bipolar state unstoppable threat. The task graph of Sal Buscema, with the domain composition, its increasingly sharp line and staff, how to accentuate every gesture and feeling in those characters whose fate seems to be irrevocably marked, is simply outstanding. ************************* COMMENTS: With more than fifty years behind him, the character Spider-Man has enjoyed great stories recorded by all. Among other things "The death of Gwen Stacy", "How green was my Goblin or "Kraven's last hunt", to name a few. The latter, is the work by the incredible J.M. DeMatteis, that was the writer in the arachnid series over many years... There are many stories that stood out for their quality: the Last Hunt itself, the remembered "Death of Aunt May", "The Lost Years" or little unjustly little recorded "The child you carry inside". But there is another story that stood out for its importance at the same time as its immense quality: The Death of Harry Osborn. It was the beginning of the nineties when they decided to kill Peter Parker's best friend. And who better than DeMatteis to do it? The writer always stood out for his deep and psychological stories. The story was full of personality, hardness and paranoia, lands in which the DeMatteis moved like fish in the water. The readers find one of the best stories ever told (possibly one of the 10 best of the character), an exciting comic, able to bring tears to the hardest fan. DeMatteis was lucky enough to have the great Sal Buscema by his side. The artist did one of his best works, proving that he is one of the best storytellers on the American scene. Buscema (who is one of the artists that most comics has drawn with Spider-Man) perfectly captured the script of DeMatteis. Such was the quality of his work, that DeMatteis decided not to put texts to the last pages, ... Buscema's work spoke for itself. On this page, Harry keeps teasing Peter, and tells him he's going to ruin his life and kill him when he least expects it. Meanwhile, he has great plans for the city, and if Peter tries to stop them he'll destroy his life. You will find a clear example of Sal Buscema's work. After an apparently simple drawing, a sober drawing is hidden, careful to the smallest detail and with an exquisite narration. If in addition, appear the main characters of the story (Spider-Man and Harry Osborn / Green Goblin) we realize that it is a masterpiece and historical of the world of American comics in general and Spider-Man in particular.
