DescriptionSentinels King-Size Special #2 (September 1968)"Enemies, Mine" One of my favorite comics growing up, with both the new Sentinels and their predecessors (part of) the Freedom Brigade finding some excuse to fight! The story revelation about how the Grim Reaper came to be in the present day was shocking to say the least, and had repercussions for years to come. I couldn't imagine how the Arrow would be a match for TNT Todd's "Kirby crackle", but he was. The bit about the Clock's secret was totally out of left field. I'm not sure what the Brigade was talking about coming from the "future", but maybe we'll find out someday. How about that Black Orchid, pretty sexy in the skirt, eh? Amazing-Man looks bad-ass! Grim Reaper looks, well, grim, and about to reap! Glad to still have it in the collection. Roll Call: The Freedom Brigade, Left (top to bottom) Redwood The Arrow Grim Reaper Black Orchid The Sentinels, Right (top to bottom) Black Fury TNT Todd Amazing-Man The Clock ~~~~ I figured that if Standard were bringing back the "Green Giant" in the late 1960s they would have been sued for trademark infringement, so they changed his name (and coloring) to Redwood, like the giant tree. Hence the color change. Chris Ivy brings the 4-color treatment to Michael's Buscema-influenced cover. Social/Sharing |

I'm officially hoping for a separate TNT-Todd series now.

I must admit, I am TOTALLY unfamilar with these characters...but that doesn't stop the sheer admiration I have for how Mike and Chris made this turn out! This is awesome!
