Severed #1 (14x20)

I'm a big fan of Scott Snyder's work, and this particular series struck all the right chords for me when I first read it - the atmosphere and the art were chilling. Futaki's muted color palette on this title gives the book a really unique and appropriate look for the time in which the story is set.

I'd gone back and forth about this piece for a while, and after re-reading the series recently I was surprised to see it was still available - suffice to say I snapped it up. This is one of those short titles that many may have overlooked, but it's a thrilling read and everything comes together perfectly.

A beautiful cover by Futaki from the first issue of Severed, and I much prefer the muted color palette of the original cover over the published one. All the covers are great, but I love this one and it's just a great piece of art - the art is 10x15 on a large 14x20 board. Given the brilliant art in this mini-series, I hope we'll be seeing much more of Futaki.
