Description

This is page 30 from Sick #3, which was a Mad magazine-style comic book. Pretty cool hand drawing from Joe Simon himself.

I discovered this piece while reading a book review for Joe Simon- My Life in Comics, where they used a picture of this to describe Joe's career in the 50s and 60s. I then found it in the pages of the actual book and had to own it.

I'm actually hoping that someone would know who the guys on the couch are?

Nice Simon art! But I'm little help IDing the seated characters. Might the one facing away in the foreground be Ike?

Thanks, buddy. I love seeing this piece get some attention! I've always been very fond of it. As for the characters, I can see some Ike in that guy's face for sure. And some Teddy Kennedy in the guy with the basketball. I'm guessing they're regulars in the comic book and not based on famous people, though. I hope to one day find out!

It is nice to see this again. I used to organize and catalog Joe's collection and I remember this particular piece well. It is a great piece but I cannot help in IDing any of the figures besides the obvious Bing Crosby. They must have been very public figures at the time. Anyway congrats.
