Description

Making spontaneous purchases in the comic world is easy, you flip through a book, and if the artwork catches your eye, you pick it up, no big commitment at 3 or 4 dollars. In the comic art world however, such a snap decision almost never happens. We sweat over pages for months or years, waiting for just the right moment to pick something up.
However, this summer I was lucky enough to visit some relatives in London, and after getting a recommendation from a staff member at The Cartoon Museum, found one of the coolest comic book stores ever, Gosh! Comics on Berwick Street. Aside from being a well-stocked store, downstairs they have a small original art gallery of work by some of Britain's finest comic artists today including Sean Phillips, Laurence Campbell, and Shaky Kane.
After browsing the work for hours, and being generously helped by Mike who was pulling subscriptions downstairs at the time, I finally came across this piece and just decided I had to have it. I know almost nothing about the artist, or even the book it came from (help please!), but I loved the page layout and playful nature of the page.
I picked up this and the Campbell page, paid for them right there at the store, and even helped package it all up so they could ship it back home and have it waiting for me when I got back to the States.
All in all a flawless experience, and definitely worth a visit if you're ever in London (apparently this is Alan Moore's shop of choice when he's in town).
