Hilly Rose showed up on my radar when B. C. Boyer sent me a copy of the first issue. He found my address in Cerebus, where I had a letter published. It was a good guerilla marketing tactic -- fans of one unusual independent comic were a good test audience for another. Something worked as the title become a minor hit and soon the first issue was selling at a premium on the secondary market. I bought the second issue as a show of support. It looked like a promising start but life got in the way and I never picked up additional issues. I was sorry to see it fold a couple of years later.

This is actually the first story page from issue #2, but it came after a chapter heading and a "story so far" page, so I listed it as page three.

It looks like B. C. Boyer was polishing some dialog on the back. In blue pen it says, "I know I arise an emotion in you... sure... it's disgust... but I can build on that."

I loved this series when it came out. Sad to see it go. Great page!
