Description

This is perhaps the best Venom page I will ever own, and it barely even has the character.

I love how this splash page plays up Eddie Brock's Catholic upbringing and defines how he is in pain. It shows Eddie has remorse for his action but is unable to stop, plagued the monster surrounding him, as demonstrated by the symbiote suffocating him in the pew all the while leaving him untouched.

That in itself is the perfect image. It reminds him and the viewer that no matter how much he hates the monster and is in pain, he is still a participant in Venom's atrocities. Venom needs Eddie Brock and thus the madness continues, despite Eddie's desire to stop.

This image resonates with the fear of losing control, wanting to stop but being unable to.

Humberto's unique anatomical nature serves this page perfectly as such demons them selves are disorganized and disjointed.

A brilliant, hard hitting metaphor delivered by a world class artist.
