Description

When I first saw this remarkable commission in Jeff and Roosters gallery, I was struck with how elegantly Mike Perkins had paid homage to the tone and feel of Frank Miller’s seminal run on Daredevil. The quasi-arrogance of Matt’s demeanor (holding a bow no less, how awesome is that!) offset by the stoic reproach evoked by his mentor, Stick, was just pitch-perfect. I also loved how Mike integrated the Chaste and panel work from the actual comic run into the overshadowing background sphere. Brilliant stuff all around. Needless to say, I was pretty envious. Therefore, it is no surprise that, when Jeff contacted me to see if I was interested in giving this amazing piece of art a new home, I had to jump at the opportunity.

In his original description, Jeff stated that the concept for this piece was the classic issue Daredevil 177, from which I have included a panel below. You can see how faithful Mike was to the original portrayal.
