Description
From the All Star team of Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti...

Colin King makes his entrance! The Batman-meets-James Bond cozies up to dangerous Dominique (Dr Silk's assistant). Earlier in the issue she double-crossed her lover, so what could Ninjak be thinking?

I was thrilled with Joey Q's work and the previews for this title, eagerly awaited the premier! I love how sexy his women are, and this page drew me in with the wonderful art nouveau effects around Dominique and our dashing super-spy. Plus the dialog has zing!

And how crazy, this issue sold 500,000 and was still heating up the back issues! Only in the 90's...

Awesome page from a classic issue by Joe and Jimmy! I have looked for years and never found any! Weird that they drew the balloons onto the page. Balloons should either have the text or get out of the way so we can see all the art:) Congrats on all these!

Thanks Dave! Its the artists preference if they want to draw (i.e. have control over) the word balloons. I've seen 70s and 80s art with drawn on balloons too. What's so unique about Valiant, is that they wouldn't letter on the original art!

A lot of times people- writers, artists, fans- may refer to panels as beats. When I hear that, I think of a resulting musicality to a page of art. It isn't in all cases that I can hear the beat by looking at the composition of a page. But on this page? I can certainly "hear" it. I want to say it comes down to a combination of script writer and artist, but I know Quesada is a major part as artist of making this page sing in a cinematic way. I get the sense that it came from a Tarantino movie or something. And the page pops for it.
