Description

Paolo Rivera's run on Daredevil Volume 3 was being talked about as soon as the first issues came out. The cover art produced for the series is incredible and the best is clearly the now famous Daredevil #10 cover.To say I was disappointed I couldn't win the Daredevil #10 cover would be an understatement. I was out at about 7k and even that was pushing all boundaries of what I was thinking before the auction began. That being said, I believe the final price to be fully justified and wish nothing but congratulations to the new owner.

Now don't get me wrong the cover art for this run is great but so was Paolo's interior work... And I still wanted a great example. What better way to nurse my wounds from losing out on the #10 cover than this great page from issue #9. Here we have you guessed it Daredevil vs Mole Man. At the top of the page DD is in charge and by the end Mole Man has the advantage. So much of an advantage that DD lays motionless on the cover of #10. This page has it all: Great inking by Paolo's dad Joe, our hero, our villain, Mole Man's minions, and a battle fought in the shadows.

Normally I hate inks and pencils on separate boards but in this case I had to make an exception and, I appreciate how splash page art keeps the 2 copies together. Special thanks to Mark Hay for this one.
