Description

Gouache on board cover for the 1959 Dell paperback, not signed. Credited on the back cover of the book to Bob McGinnis. While earlier writers on Dell paperbacks (William H. Lyles, 1983) attribute the art to McGinnis, a more recent checklist (Scott, 2001, p.23) states that McGinnis identified it as the work of Mitchell Hooks.

I'm definitely not an expert, but the pose and treatment of the hair looks like McGinnis to me. But agreed, either way it's a really striking piece!
