Description

My most recent purchase comes from an eBay auction already matted and framed! This illustration was used in the November 15, 1960, issue of Vogue. It was one of a series of illustrations rendered by Mr. Bouché for a piece entitled "What's So Special About Pink" on pages 86-91. "Pink silk Honan with a vibrant cyclamen edge to the pinkness and the kind of fluid uncluttered prettiness that's just what's wanted any little evening of the week here and now. (Little afternoons in a warmer climate, of course, the need for it would be felt just as keenly.) Dress designed by Adele Simpson, of Julius Werk silk; about $125. At Bergdorf Goodman; Nan Duskin; Wm. H. Block; and Blum's, Chicago." Unfortunately, it appears there are some adhesive stains showing through from the back. They probably could be removed by a paper conservator, but it's not so instrusive that I'd pursue it right now.
