Description

This is the very first work I've ever commissioned or paid for. I had wanted to commission a Legion work from Jeff Moy for years ever since I met him at a science fiction convention but he was too busy when I first contacted him. Finally, a spot freed up on his commission schedule in 2011 and e-mailed him with a request.

I loved the Moy-Carani years of LSH. I think Jeff really captured the exuberance of a young teenage Legion filled with hope and enthusiasm.

This commission grew to a double-size work as we talked via e-mail, mainly because I couldn't bear to leave out key members of the Legion. I finally had to cut it off at 24 members! I really love what he did with this.

He sure did! This piece kind of grew on us ... I was going to start with a single size with maybe 4-6 members of the Legion but I kept thinking of members it would be incomplete without and finally just decided to go for nearly the full Silver Age roster albeit with some of Jeff's unique touches (I loved his Spark and Triad). Jeff and I were both immensely pleased with how this came out -- a perfect blending of the Legion of my childhood and the Moy/Carani period!

VERY nice start to your commission collecting! There are a few of us who collect mainly Legion-related artwork and it's always nice to see more. Also I love your avatar!
