DescriptionWaaaay back, when the late 1950's magic totem pre-Kara Supergirl was conjured up by Jimmy Olsen, she looked pretty much like Silver Age Kara -- blonde hair, and the outfit was red, yellow & blue. A few years later, after Kara was an established character, DC reprinted the magic totem Supergirl story -- and to differentiate her from Kara they colored magic Supergirl with red hair (like Jimmy's) and an orange and green costume. I liked this reprint version -- it made sense that egotistical Jimmy would conjure up a Supergirl who looked like his female double -- so I asked the talented Mr. Hembeck to draw me a picture of Jimmy wishing up his dream girl. (The "magic totem" Supergirl appeared in "Superman" vol. 1, issue 123; one of the recolored orange & green reprints - I think the recolored version was reprinted twice - appeared in "Superman" vol. 1 issue 217, which was an all-reprint issue.)Social/Sharing |
