Description

The journey through the long boxes of ol' continues. February '85 and I remember picking this one up on my first trip to the local comic shop (the legendary Fat Cat's of Johnson City). Had no idea who the head's were but Cap and a were-wolf in armor? I was down for that (still am). With time itself starting to come apart the Avengers (East and West) come together to try to figure out what's going on and stop it.

I remember hating it when, just before they figure out it was Kang / Immortus / Scarlet Centurion / Rama-Tut this time wave shows up and messes things up. Riffing on the classic Kree / Skrull War they swapped out the then Avengers line-up for these folks : the Human Fly, Omega the Unknown, Thundra, the WWII version of Cap, the Forgotten One (in his space armor), Star-God / Man-Wolf, Starshine (from Rom) and the Jack of Hearts. Then, to make matters worse (and muddy up the plot a bit :) ) the Shi'ar Imperial Guard show up. Those're the faces in the back : Mentor, Hussar, Starbolt, Quasar, Titan, Gladiator and Magic. All and all, not quiet as cool as the cover suggests but I'm a sucker for Marvel's outer space / cosmic characters. If only the Celestials'd shown up :)

Can you really WISH a whole new time-line into existence..Looking at this cover I could almost believe the answer is YES
