So I bought this off eBay some years ago. After owning it for two years or so, I see what appears to be the same thing up for auction on Heritage. I write to them and tell them I also have one. They assure me that theirs is legit, though they don't elaborate how they are 100% sure theirs is real. So I pack this one up and mail it to Art Adams himself to look at it and tell me what he thinks. Art says through his dealer that he's 51% sure that it's his--they sometimes got rushed at the end of cons, and that's what this looks like. He also confirms that he's never verified the 100% guaranteed one, btw. I ask, "Can you write that on there?" He says, "No." They mail it back to me. I later see it on Romitaman.com and write to him about it. He says he sold it. I then see it right here on Comicartfans, and for sale. So I buy the "real" one, too. For what I paid for both combined, I would have happily paid for the real one. So I don't feel bad about that. I would like to go back and see who sold me the fake off eBay, though.

Just discovered your posting of this and the genuine article. I also own a counterfeit of this sketch--I bought it through an ad in the Comics Buyer's Guide over 30 years ago. I've always had my doubts as to the authenticity of mine, but I was hesitant to confirm it one way or the other. While I'm disappointed to learn that mine IS a fake, it's actually a bit of a relief to know for certain. (Especially since I got mine in the days when original art and sketches were fairly inexpensive, so I didn't lose too much.) Now I'm just determined to save up for a real Art Adams sketch...
