So this piece has a bit of a story, and here it is.
At the end of last year over at the Stelfreeze Yahoo Group, Robert and Brian did a 'Seasons Spirits' activity. Everyone who wanted to could share a little story of giving and holiday spirit. Robert then pulled names out of a hat (I am assuming it was a hat!) and those people got one of the three Seasons Spirit paintings Brian had done for the occasion. The pieces can be seen in the galleries of Ryan Walters, Louie La Palombara III and Patrick Brooks
Why am I telling you this? Because actually my name was pulled for the Spirit of Wonder piece. After some thought I decided I needed to pass on the piece and asked for someone elses name to be drawn. Don't get me wrong, I love that piece, it's beautiful. But it's also a nude. I have this running thing where I think Brian's art needs to be displayed. I don't want to hide it in a portfolio. But I also work from home and have clients come over. Now I have no issues with nudes but I avoid displaying them because you never know what your counter part might think. And I really didn't want this piece to be hidden away in a portfolio. So Robert drew another name and all was well with the world.
Fast forward to today. I pick up a package from my neighbour and along with some other cool stuff, there's this piece. Turns out that Brian felt that I should have something after all, my name was drawn. Now I want to stress that I didn't ask, expect or even suspected that this might happen. This piece is a demo Brian did for a class (one of many 'super sexy Aquamen' he's been doing this year) and it's an absolute beauty. I still am not sure I have the words to actually express what this means to me. Besides the art being fantastic, I guess it's the gesture of the whole thing. (On a side note, this piece is done on grey toned paper which was mounted onto foamcore, thus the creases which actually show up a lot more on the scan than the original)
