Description

Studying other artists should be a lifetime practice for any artist. You can learn a lot by seeing how they solve problems in their work. I do this very regularly as a warm up for inking.

Dave Stevens could ink like nobody else. He was truly one of kind. Dave was also a very personable and agreeable guy the few times I met with him. He was taken from us far too soon.

I can't even come close to the brush mastery Dave possessed -but it's still very fun to learn from him.

Oddly enough, I have another Kong on the drawing table. Not a Stevens -but my own version. It is the 80th anniversary after all.
