I like some of the things people want when they buy Eisner original art but not everything. I like all his fussy splash pages and some of his line work, but am less enamored of his pot boiler histrionics - of which there is plenty in A Contract with God (undoubtedly his most famous and influential graphic novel). I think the comic would have read better with a degree of restraint but there is little doubt that the most desirable and expensive pages from the book are precisely those with a high degree of theatricality. Being late to the party and not wealthy, I got one of the cheap ones.

Maybe 'one of the cheap ones' as you say, but it's still a beautiful and significant page from this Eisner's masterwork... Congrats!

I was even cheaper and bought a couple of pencil prelims but I love them both. If being cheap means you ended up with this page, I would say it wasn't such a bad thing.

A few of those pencil prelims weren't that cheap though - but that was mainly for the key scenes. On the whole, they were all remarkably tight. Clearly a labor of love.

Yes, I agree. I was not willing to pay the freight on a splash prelim, though there was one I had my eye on. I bought two pages not quite in sequence, though part of the same story line for less than a prelinary splash cost and was happy with that. Its a seminal work from a master of the form and I couldn't resist having something, even if I couldn't spring for one of the final inked pieces.

I think this was a graet choice. This conversation becomes far more maeningful as the story progresses.
