Description"His Name is Yellowjacket!"One of my favorite inkers, George Klein, over Big John. Roy Thomas was hitting his stride on this title, introducing the new Masters of Evil, Ultron, the Vision, and Yellowjacket between issues #54-59 of the series. Great art with great stories, I am surprised that these early Avengers don't get more love. Avengers #1 through #100 is one of my favorite silver age runs. Social/Sharing |

Klein over JB was indeed a great artistic pairing... and this page is a fine example of why!

I completely agree with you. I know that most people prefer Tom Palmer's inking over Big John, but for me, George Klein was THE Big John inker.

Buscema's pencils are so strong during this Klein run. It's like he almost cared about drawing superheroes back then - likely also caught up in the Marvel magic whirlwind of that time - wonderful stuff, thanks for posting!

This is some kind of mind battle. Henry Pym had always such imagination.

Agreed Buscema was sharpest with Klein inks (and Sal's on SS). Excellent example

Big John was a terrific storyteller and George truly helped him making his art shines in this first incredible run on Avengers. Love the page, congratulations !
