Description

This was a nice example of the greyline coloring system. Greylines were a system similar to the blueline color approach used in Europe. A 10% grey halftone of the line art would be printed onto a photostat, and lined up with an acetate that had solid black line art. I colored on the greyline using water-soluble felt markers and airbrush. The pages were reduced to printed size so they could be ganged up in four page segments to cut costs on the color scanning. They also had to be on flexible materials so it could be drum scanned. It was an inexpensive system used from the mid-to-late 1980's to achieve full-color before computer coloring made them obsolete.
