2000AD - Judge Dredd: The Apocalypse War Commission (John Cooper)

John Cooper has a superb Battle of Trafalgar painting on his living room wall that he completed in his spare time (beautifully atmospheric);he also provided art for one of the best post-Apocalypse War stories ('The Last Invader'). I thought it might be fun to commission him to paint a scene from the Apocalypse War that captured the atmosphere of the first and action of the second. I provided him with reference material from the storyline, some WWII photos and let him do what he wanted with it. This stunning piece far exceeded my expectations - the old boy still has it!
