Description
I purchased this splash page along with a color Byrne Wolverine drawng from a classified ad in CBG placed by Mark Ou. Remember when CBG was one of the primary sources to purchase original comic art? Each week (CBG was a weekly periodical) I loved flipping through the CBG and finding original art sale ads from Scott Dunbier, Albert Moy, Graphic Collectibles, and Tri-State Comics. It was a mad rush to contact the dealer before someone else. Comic arts sales have come a long way!.

This page comes from the all splash page issue of Marvel Fanfare by John Byrne. Byrne really out did himself with the amount of rendering he put into each page. This is my favorite page from the book.

It was certainly a novelty at the time to have an all splash page story. Who would have thought a decade later the Image founders would be doing it for most of their books?

I remember those times well....and I miss them! I remember, when I worked at Image, literally racing Rob Liefeld to the phone on "catalogue day" to call Mitch for this piece and that. I won some, I lost some. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Oh, and stellar page, btw!

Such an awesome page. One of the best Byrne Hulk's.
