Darkness by Michael Turner

Back in the day, I had a short internship at top cow productions. While there, i didn't want to bother anyone, so even though I loved sketches, I never asked for one. I figured it would be pushy and inappropriate.

Well, whenever I'd go to a con, I'd get in the long line for Mike Turner and ask for a sketch like the rest of the fans, and he'd always decline and say, "just ask me at the cow." after this happened two or three times, I finally did just that.

I could tell he didn't necessarily want to do it at that moment, but he knew that he'd put me off. He did this quick Sharpie darkness sketch for me on a comic backboard. To this day, it's the only piece of art I have from him and I still love it.

Mike really was a great guy. I got to know him a bit and have one or two fun stories. All the great things you've heard about him are true. When i got to know him, he was healing from arthritis and such already. It really caught me off guard when I got the news that his cancer had returned and he'd passed. I really miss him.
